    ANSWERS  : OBJECTIVE  TEST --3

1) Antonio  is in  a  melancholic  or sad  mood  when the drama opens.

2)He  is  to  learn  the  origin  of   his  strange  melancholy, how  he  caught  it  or  acquired   it.

3) Antonio  has  trouble  to  know  himself as  his  sadness  has  made  him  a  dull  fellow.

4) Antonio's   mind   is  moving  restlessly  on  the  sea  ⛵ where  his  rich  merchant  ships  or  argosies  are  sailing.

5)Salarino  describes  Antonio's  argosies
to  wealthy   noblemen   or  rich  merchants.

6)Salanio  would  be  plucking the  grass  to  see  the  direction  of  the  wind  if  he  had  business   ventures  like  Antonio.

7)The  wind  cooling  Salarino's   broth  would   remind  him  of  the  strong   winds     and  what  damage  it  might  cause  to  his  ships  at  sea.

8)Salarino  would  not  see  the  Sandy  hour  glass  as  it  would  remind  him  of the  shallows  and  quick   sands   and  the threat  these  could  pose  to  his  ships.

9)The  church  or  'the  holy  edifice  of stone'  would  make  Salarino  think  of the  dangerous  rocks   at  sea  and  what harm  they  could  cause  to  his  ships.

10) Antonio  is  not  sad  on  account  of his  merchandise  as  his  goods  are  not  concentrated  in  one   ship,  nor  are  they heading  to  the  same  place.   His  financial condition   doesn't  depend  upon the  profits   of  the  current year.

11)Janus  is  a  Roman  God,  with   two  heads,  one   smiling  and  the  other frowning.
He  was  usually  placed  on  the  doorway one  head  looking  inside  and  the  other outside.

12) Nature   has  created   two   types  of strange  fellows--Some  are  always  in  a  jovial  mood  and  would  laugh  at anything  like  a  parrot  laughs  on hearing  the sound  of  a  bagpipe.               Some  are  so  serious   that   they will  not  smile  even  at  a  very  funny  joke.

13)The foolish  people try to earn a reputation  for wisdom  by  maintaining  a  deliberate  silence.

14)In  his  school days, when  Bassanio lost an arrow, he  would  shoot  another  arrow  💘  in   the  same  direction  but would  be  more  vigilant  this  time  to see   where   it  fell. In  this  way  by  risking  one  he  would  recover  both the  arrows.

15) The  lady  richly  left  is  Portia .
She  is  in  Belmont.

16) Bassanio  compares  this  lady  to  Brutus' wife   and  Cato's daughter  Portia  of  Rome.

17)The   wide  world  is  aware  of  the lady's  worth  is  evident  from  the  fact that   famous   suitors   from  the  four  corners  of   the   world   come  to  Belmont  in  quest  of  her.

18) Jasons  came  in  quest  of  the  lady since  she  was  considered  as  valuable as  the  Golden  Fleece   of  Colchos strand.

19) Bassanio's mind  presages him that he would  undoubtedly be the winner , if  he had  the means  to tàke  his place  as a suitor of  Portia in Belmont.

20) Antonio  advises  Bassanio  to  go  to  a   moneylender  to   provide   him   with  the   money   he   needed   since   Antonio did   not   have   any   hard  cash   or  any  possession  with  him  at  that  moment to raise  money.

Now  Evaluate Yourself  ..... Honestly ..
Wait  for  the  next  and
DON'T  FORGET  TO  LEAVE  YOUR COMMENTS🙋🙋🙋
